The German seismic software company, Sharp Reflections GmbH, has been sold to Computer Modelling Group (CMG)

On the 12th of November, the shareholders of Sharp Reflections GmbH sold their shares in Sharp Reflections to CMG. Sharp Reflections has developed a unique software suite combining pre-stack visualization, processing and interpretation of full-survey seismic data. The software can handle the O&G industry’s largest and most advanced seismic data sets, which is why more and more users adopt the solution.

Alpha Corporate Finance has acted as financial advisor to the shareholders of Sharp Reflections, including Equinor Ventures, in the transaction.

The transaction is part of an ambitious plan to build a powerhouse in the sub-surface software space and will strengthen CMG’s customer offering.

Sharp Reflections is a German/Norwegian software company providing the industry’s most advanced Big Data platform for seismic reservoir prediction, delivered on prem and in the cloud. The software consists of five modules, including interactive 4D time lapse seismic analysis. Sharp Reflections is headquartered in Karlsruhe, Germany and has around 40 employees. Prior to the sale to CMG, Sharp Reflections was owned by the founders, Equinor Ventures and its employees.

Computer Modelling Group (CMG) is a software company that produces reservoir simulation software for the oil and gas industry. The company is headquartered in Calgary, Canada, with offices in Bengaluru, Bogota, Dubai, Houston, Kuala Lumpur, Rio de Janeiro, Oslo, and Oxford, and has around 300 employees. CMG is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
